With this being our inaugural season at our new location, we are excited to see what types of produce will be the most popular. We are attempting to grow a large enough collection of vegetables to meet your discerning tastes with a steady supply throughout the season.  We anticipated our farmstand would be operational by the end of May, but the cool dry spring has slowed growth of the entire garden, and we will be opening by mid June.  A list of what we offer will be updated frequently on both this page and our Facebook page.

WHY WE GROW WHAT WE DO

Heirloom varieties were chosen for taste foremost.  They often have shapes, colours and sizes that look nothing like their supermarket relatives.  Some varieties are able to prolong our growing season substantially.  Some have specific disease and pest resistance.  Some are a better choice for certain cooking techniques. Some are simply visually beautiful.  While their modern cousins may fare better for the long periods of time from picking to supermarket shelves, primarily because transportability and uniformity are deemed to be the most important characteristics of modern plant breeding, the flavour of the crops we offer has no comparison.  We do not expect our produce to sit on a shelf for long - it tastes too good to wait.

If there are specific crops you would like to see us grow in the future, if there is something you would like in larger volumes than what is available at the farmstand, or if you would like to have us reserve something on a specific day, please let us know by clicking the link below.

ORGANICALLY CONSCIOUS

We are proud to offer fresh produce grown as simply as possible.  We and our children eat the same produce that we sell.  We believe that modern farm practices have their benefits, and we use pesticides as judiciously as possible.  By choosing disease resistant heirloom varieties, using companion planting, and practicing traditional growing techniques, we can minimize the negative environmental affects of commercial agriculture, and in return offer cleaner, healthier crops.  We proudly accept the subtle flaws that occur to the produce when not under the heavy hand of current agricultural methods.

ABOUT US

Heather and Andrew and their children Alex, Ben and Susie moved to Turkey Hill Farm in the fall of 2014.  The couple have previously sold produce and other goods at local farmers` markets, while becoming established in the veterinary profession. They have a deep respect for the land and its bounty, and a love for fresh, flavorful foods.  Gardening is truly a family activity.

An exciting new enterprise is the establishment of a fruit orchard.  Primarily heirloom varieties of apples, the couple have plans for an additional brand to watch for in the coming years - Turkey Hill Cidery.
